SUPPORT FOR YOUR INTERNAL IT TEAM
Co-managed IT support for internal IT teams
Give your IT manager or team access to additional skills and capacity. CIS provides co-managed IT support with agreed responsibilities, helping businesses with 50 to 200 employees tackle operational work and planned improvements.
Extend the capability of your existing team
An internal IT team knows your people, applications and priorities. It can still need specialist help, additional delivery capacity or support with work that keeps slipping behind daily requests.
Co-managed IT brings CIS into agreed parts of that workload. Define what your team will retain, where CIS will take responsibility and how decisions and escalations will work.
If you want to outsource the wider day-to-day function, explore managed IT support. The right model depends on the responsibilities you want to keep in-house.
Agree the areas where CIS can contribute
- Operational support: discuss helpdesk responsibilities, monitoring and maintenance, and escalation for recurring issues.
- Cloud and collaboration: plan Microsoft 365 and cloud work around your existing environment and users.
- Security: add cyber security expertise, with coverage and remediation ownership clearly defined.
- Recovery: review backup and recovery arrangements for your critical systems.
- Improvement projects: agree requirements, delivery responsibilities, documentation and handover.
The proposal sets out the services included, support hours, access arrangements and costs. Additional or out-of-hours coverage should be agreed explicitly.
Evidence from the UV&S Technology partnership
US-based MSP UV&S Technology selected CIS to co-manage IT for its UK operations. The published case study describes how CIS integrated with existing systems, provided local expertise and supported infrastructure management.
The relationship demonstrates experience working alongside another technical team with shared operational responsibilities. Read the UV&S co-managed IT case study.
For a separate example of working with an internal IT team, see how CIS supported St Paul’s Cathedral’s remote working project.
Make responsibility clear before the work starts
Start with your team’s current workload and the gaps you want to address. Map ownership of applications, devices, cloud services, security tools and recovery tasks.
Agree how access will be granted, where documentation is held, how tickets are handed over and who can authorise changes. For incidents, define contacts, escalation and response responsibilities.
Use agreed priorities and reviews to assess what has improved and what still needs attention. This gives your team a practical way to direct external support without adding internal headcount for every specialist need.
Plan the right scope for your business
Bring your current team structure, service agreements, technology stack and project backlog to an initial discussion. Costs depend on the systems, responsibilities and support coverage required.
CIS supports organisations in Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Birmingham. Discuss the requirements for each office and any remote or on-site work.
Where does your IT team need more capacity?
Tell us which responsibilities your team will retain and where additional support would make the biggest difference. We can build the discussion around those gaps.
